the art of designing exceptional yachts

generations of expertise
for your maritime adventures

In 50 years, Garcia Yachts has forged an international reputation in the design and construction of blue water cruising yachts. Designed by a team of experts, with tried-and-tested innovations, constantly improved thanks to owner feedback, built using artisanal methods by highly skilled employees within a semi-industrial organisation, Garcia yachts are benchmarks in extreme sailing.

A worldwide reference FOR OVER 50 YEARS

blue water cruising yacht design expertise

A team of experts at the cradle of each new model

From our discussions with our owners, our analysis of the market and its trends, we draw up precise specifications for each new model. This collaborative process continues with a naval architect, who contributes his vision and expertise to shape the hull, structure, sail plan and general layout. A designer then refines the layout plans and imagines the interior ambiances. Finally, our design office, bringing together architects, engineers and technicians, integrates the various systems and finalises the deck plan, guaranteeing a harmonious and accomplished design.

Innovation and Reliability for Adventure

Materials, manufacturing techniques, equipment: we remain at the forefront of developments, incorporating only those we have rigorously tested and validated. Our priority is to offer our owners the most effective and proven solutions. A blue water cruising yacht, especially one designed for high latitudes, must guarantee uncompromising performance, so that you can sail with complete peace of mind, whatever the conditions.

Continuous Evolution, Guided by the Experience of Our Owners

Our owners sail to the four corners of the globe, exploring the most demanding destinations, from the Northwest Passage to the ice of Antarctica. Their sailing experience is invaluable, and we're always ready to listen.

Their feedback, suggestions and observations - whether on ergonomics, accessibility or the integration of new equipment - feed directly into our thinking and our continuous improvement process. As a result, we are constantly upgrading our boats, optimising them over the course of different vintages.

Masterful craftsmanship

More than a dozen trades are involved in creating your Garcia: metalworkers, painters, carpenters, upholsterers, fitters... These are manual trades, requiring great care and precision. Our boats are thus produced in small series, by passionate craftsmen, according to the equipment wishes of their future owners. With over 50 years' experience, Garcia has mastered each and every one of its trades, delivering top-quality, ultra-reliable yachts.

In a semi-industrial setting

This mastery of craftsmanship is nevertheless part of our organisation. The intervention of each trade is carried out step by step, our material and equipment flows are optimised, and our facilities are designed to facilitate our operations and guarantee the safety and quality of working life of our employees. Our production is controlled by a management software package, which gives us full control over our schedules. What's more, as part of the Grand Large Yachting group, Garcia benefits from shared knowledge and best practices.

A robust quality approach

Reliability is essential for exploration yachts, destined to face harsh conditions and venture into remote places. In addition to the expertise and know-how of our staff, a quality team carries out checks at every stage of construction, from the cutting of the first aluminium sheet to final sea trials, guaranteeing the high level of performance and reliability of our boats.

An environmental approach

We are also committed to optimising the environmental performance of our boats, at every stage of their life: design, production, use and end-of-life. To manufacture our hulls, we already use 80% recycled aluminium. We have also set up a waste sorting system, an annual site clean-up campaign and actions to reduce our production of non-recyclable waste. We also involve our suppliers. Finally, as the use of the boat accounts for most of the overall footprint of owning a sailboat, we are also working to raise our customers' awareness of good practices on board.

manufacturing
in 8 steps

#1

Metalwork,
creation of the hull

The story of your sailboat begins in one of our 3 metal-working facilities. On a tool called a table, we create the structure of your sailboat: vertical ribs and horizontal stringers gradually create a kind of skeleton, onto which the aluminium sheets, previously bent, are welded and shaped to give life to the hull. Our hulls are shaped, without chine, for improved seaworthiness, enhanced performance and greater elegance. It all starts with the exceptional work of our metalmakers, whose know-how is passed on in the traditional way, with a system of apprenticeship that enhances the value of the craft and ensures that the gestures are accurate, precise and verified.

#2

Surface preparation
and painting

The hull arrives in Cherbourg bare, and the first step is to paint the cockpit and coachroof. Depending on your aesthetic preference, the hull can remain unfinished in aluminium or be covered with an adhesive in the color of your choice. At this stage, we also prepare the hull with the application of antifouling.

#3

System installation

The boat then moves on to its production slot, where various trades are involved. The first step is to carefully install the boat's insulation, in parallel with the various electrical wiring and interior plumbing systems. This is also the stage at which the engine and any other systems you may have chosen, such as a heater, watermaker or generator, are installed.

#4

Installation of fittings
and joinery

Our interior fittings are manufactured and pre-assembled by Griffon Marine, the Grand Large Yachting group's carpentry facility.

Once the floors have been laid, our Cherbourg carpenters install each piece of furniture with precision, giving shape and life to the boat's interior. Then come our upholsterers, who carefully apply the upholstery, bringing warmth and finish to the interior world of the Garcia.

#5

Deck covering installation

Rather than a plain aluminium deck with a simple non-slip surface, we recommend the addition of a special coating, which offers much more than just an aesthetic advantage. It improves thermal insulation, while providing more pleasant contact underfoot. Two options are available: Flexiteek, a synthetic composite covering imitating teak, or Marinedeck, a cork and resin agglomerate. Both are highly durable, maintenance-free and perfectly slip-resistant.

#6

fittings installation

Pulpits, winches, clutches, blocks, cleats, windlasses... Each piece of deck hardware is carefully installed by a dedicated, specialised team.

#7

Stepping the mast

Last step before launching, the boat is taken out of its slot to receive its mast, sails, halyards, sheets, lazy-bag and protective and shading textiles.

#8

launch and test run

Your boat finally hits the water! A series of tests begins. A dedicated team, based on a precise checklist, will test everything on board: engine, thrusters, fittings, electronics... Each sail is sent out, and the boat is tested under all points of sail. It can then be delivered to you.
